This article shows how to create Custom Field Definitions.
To access the custom field definitions management window, in the "Setup" tab, click on the "Custom Field Definitions" button:
The list of custom field definitions will appear:
Use the "New" button to open a new custom field definition's form:
Parent Type
Select the type of parent a custom field definition is associated with. The following types of parent are available:
So for example, if you select "Vehicle" as the type of parent, then the custom field definition you will create will be available in the "Custom Fields" tab of the Vehicle's form:
The type of data that can be entered in this custom field. The available types are:
If you choose one of these two data types: "Date" or "Date and time", the "Reminder for Date Field" box will be displayed. Otherwise, this box will not be available.
This box will be visible only if you selected "Date" or "Date and time" as the "Data Type". This will let you specify if a renewal reminder and pre-reminder must be created for this custom field. You can also define the number of days before the date a pre-reminder is triggered. These renewal reminders will appear in the "Renewal Reminders" view. To open the "Renewal Reminders" view, click here:
The "Renewal Reminders" view will appear. The renewal reminders having a little purple square with "CF" inside indicates that they are bound to custom fields:
Optional. A description of the custom field. This definition will be visible as a tool tip to the user when hovering over the "?" icon on the custom field. For example:
